A bit about David
I am a man that cares deeply about the world and others. I can be rather serious, in fact too serious sometimes, however as I travel down my path in life, I am constantly reminded to play and experience joy. My play often comes in the form of curiosity, wonder, and exploration for these are where I feel my truth.
I am a teacher at heart, an innovator in my gut, and a shit disturber in my head. This is an odd and fantastic combination that allows me to break through societal barriers to create and help others on their paths. I love elegance and creating structure while being buoyed by chaos and play.
How I found Energetic Wine
For the last couple of years I have been on a journey focused on getting in touch with my body and my spirit. I didn’t set out to do any of this, in fact I didn’t even realize what I was getting involved in, I just went with the flow. This flow took me to the door of my now good friend Po, and his tea temple. During my time enjoying and learning about the teas he served, I started to become more aware of my body. Most of the teas he shared with me are the essence of plant medicine and are imbued with Energy, Chi, Shakti, etc. This energy helped me to wake up to a broader world, contained within my body.
For much of my life, I considered myself to be a rational, logical, intelligent person. The scientific method is good, and areas that couldn’t be explained by logic and this method were worthy of scorn rather than exploration and praise. Additionally, I viewed my body as a vehicle for my brain, add fuel, do things, and get me where I want to go. Needless to say, getting more in touch with my body and woo-woo stuff wasn’t where I was going.
Each time I sat in that tea room, this world view eroded little by little. I was at a loss as to how to tell my other rational friends about these experiences. I felt confusion and shame that I was interested in areas that my intellect couldn’t explain. Yet, the sensations were powerful, enjoyable, and too fascinating to stop participating. I continued to awaken and to learn that so many of the feelings I experienced in my body were part of a broader intelligence that was much more potent than my intellect alone. As time has gone by, I’ve learned to listen to my body more and more, and the dividends are fantastic.
With this new awareness, I have gained what Richard Strozzi-Heckler describes as, “the rich, subjective life of being in the human body.” I feel more, I enjoy more, I am more sensitive to my environment, what I put into my body, and whom I spend time with, and I have also found a greater connection to spirit. All of which my old self would have chalked up to woo-woo, out there stuff.
At this point, you may wonder what all of this has to do with wine. After a year or so of drinking tea with Po, my fiancée, Kristin and I started to noticed similar Energy in certain wines. We began to track these Energies, finding them similar yet distinct from those we found in tea. I noticed Energy more and more at tastings and the in champagnes I poured at Ambonnay. It was exciting to find something incredible in my own backyard. I slowly and cautiously began sharing these wines with friends, and they noticed similar effects. I then moved into some trial runs with my broader circle of acquaintances they also noticed the Energy.
These experiences combined with a deep desire to help others are the reason that I founded Energetic Wine Company. I hope you’ll join me on this path of getting to know yourself in deeper, richer ways all while enjoying delicious wine.
